The Professional Me

I was born in Vancouver, that’s where I started my television career at the age of 15 as a correspondent for the youth show on Shaw TV Generation Why?

At 19 I graduated from the Radio Broadcast program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and decided I’d move east to get a job in television…I quickly realized THAT wasn’t going to happen because we just hit a recession and there were 40 year olds with more experience then me that didn’t have jobs… soooooo I turned to plan B and teamed up with a few friends to help create the online entertainment site Bestfan.com. It was at Bestfan that I made connections with the movers and shakers in Canada and had the opportunity to conduct hundreds of interviews with some of my favorite musical artists, producers, and composers.

After BestFan I went on to work for Rogers Telecommunications for 4 years!   I ended up hosting and producing a show called Your World This Week on Channel 1…It was basically an entertainment show that people saw as soon as they turned their TV on…and it would play all day every day on loop all over central and eastern Canada to 2.5 million viewers a week…no pressure there!

Some of my favorite interviews of all time has got to be Daniel Radcliffe (huge Harry Potter fan!), Eva Longoria, Jake Gyllenhaal, Armie Hammer, Henry Cavill (Superman!), Gerard Butler, Josh Duhamel, Donald Glover, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Young Jeezy, Tinie Tempah, Jason Derulo, Miguel, Robin Thicke, and Gotye.

I currently am taking some time to build my personal Youtube Channel up!  It features influential guests sitting on my couch playing games, contests, and random rachel-licious rants etc.

(It means a lot if you subscribe as this is a whole new world to me and it helps keep me motivated!)

On the side I also run a boutique social media/ digital strategy firm called “Hashtag Communications”  where I help clients streamline their brands message through their online social networks.   I find it incredibly rewarding to watch authentic connections being made through the online space…what a crazy new world we live in!

On weekends I spend my time learning cool WordPress tricks at Coffee and Code meet up groups in Toronto and read self help books about ways people can maximize their happiness.

In my spare time I like to shop for wrap dresses and comfortable heels, make junk-food out of healthy ingredients, sing broadway ballads and eat chipotle…like… a lot of chipotle..

  1. Heya! I understand this is sort of off-topic however I needed to
ask. Does operating a well-established blog such as yours take a
lot of work? I am brand new to blogging but I do write in my diary every day.

I’d like to start a blog so I can share my own experience and feelings online.
Please let me know if you have any kind of
recommendations or tips for new aspiring bloggers.
    Appreciate it!

    1. Hi Kamagra! My piece of advice is find something niche to talk about and something you are passionate about. It’s important that you love what you are talking about because it actually does require alot of work! But I recommend you give it a try and send me a link once you have made it! Good luck!

  2. WOW! That is super cool, what a life you have already lived! I was wondering if you’ve ever met/interviewed the cast of Degrassi: The Next Generation? I realize they’re a much smaller level of fame than most of those you interviewed, but I know they film there and I grew up watching them here int he states on a channel called “The N” 🙂
